Animators collaborate with clients and members of the production teams in order to review scripts, create storyboards, and create animations. Animators use a variety of softwares and techniques in order to create and edit animations and work with clients in order to be able to tell a story or provide visual information and alter it to fit the client's needs. Animators need a bachelor's degree or certification in computer animation, graphic design, or a form of fine arts degree. They also have a portfolio, additional training in specific programs, and an understanding of storytelling and the necessary components. Majors such as computer animation and graphic design are very common and most colleges offer these degrees, but some of the most well known programs are at the School of Visual Arts in New York and Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota.
